aka: Nessie
An increasing number of people are dying mysterious deaths in the dark waters of Loch Ness, victims of the famous monster. But what other mysteries does the Loch hold? Stars Sandy Kenyon, Miki McKenzie and Barry Buchanan (son of director Larry Buchanan).

NOTE: This is one of the last films produced by director Larry Buchanan. He was completing the editing of his last film at his home in Phoenix, Arizona when he died on December 2nd, 2004, two months shy of his 82nd birthday. He considered The Copper Scroll Of Mary Magdalene, a story based on a Gnostic interpretation of Christ, to be his finest film. The man who had turned down the chance to become a minister, had been working on the film since 1972. Returning to his roots, the film had became the goal of his career and was an expression of his artistic, as well as religious, passion. Buchanan was survived by wife, Jane, of 52 years and by his sons Randy, Barry, Jeff, and by his daughter Dee.

Factual errors: There are no islands on Loch Ness.

•The downed Nazi plane and bodies can be clearly seen in the water. However, Loch Ness is filled with thick particulate peat and underwater visibility is about five feet.

Trivia: The Scottish castle scene was filmed at Vikingsholm, a private residence at Lake Tahoe. It was built as a summer home by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight in 1929.

The island shown at the beginning of the film is called Fannette Island.

The film was actually shot in Lake Tahoe, California, not Scotland as depicted in the film.

The devoted doctor has developed a serum that isolates and identifies the part of the brain that produces violent behavior and is working on another chemical that will block all antisocial desires, effectively curing evil once and for all. Unfortunately, the crusading doctor is transformed into Mr. Blood, a sadistic, lustful creature with grey-green skin and ferocious eyebrows. Eventually, the doctor's evil alter ego begins surfacing uncontrollably and at random, threatening the safety and sanity of his loved ones, as well as Jekyll himself. Also stars Julia Stratton, Gay Feld and Jaqueline Lawrence. Also with Gerald Jacuzzo and Berwick Kaler. Directed by Andy Milligan.

This film was originally titled Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Blood, but producer William Mishkin changed the title to The Man With Two Heads, in order to capitalize on the success of the then current horror films The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant (1971) and The Thing with Two Heads (1972).

When the doctor realizes that the hapless correspondent is the perfect subject for his next experiment, he drugs the unfortunate reporter and injects him with a serum that gradually transforms him into a hideous, two-headed monster (portrayed by George Wyman). Gives new meaning to that old romantic song, Put Your Head On My Shoulder. Also stars Jane Hylton (Peter Dyneley's actual spouse) and Terri Zimmern. Also with Norman Van Hawley, Jerry Itô, and Alan Tarlton.

This film was a co-production between the U.S. and Japan and is notable for its creative use of special effects and makeup.

This film was originally released in Japan in July of 1959 and later released in the U.S. on March 28th, 1962.

British actor Peter Dyneley spent his early years in Canada, but was educated at Radley College. He had dual nationality, Canadian and British, and also served with the Royal Canadian Navy in WW II. With his Canadian background, he often performed with an American accent, typically in both Thunderbirds (1965-66) and the cult horror film The Manster (1962). Peter died on August 19th, 1977, after a long battle with cancer. He was 56. His wife, actress Jane Hylton, died from a heart attack only a couple of years later, joining him on February 28th, 1979. She was 51.

The picture quality for this film is far superior to all other versions currently available elsewhere. Also included is the extended ending, which explains what legally might happen to the main character for all the murders he committed while under the evil doctor's influence, which is missing from all the generic bargain bin DVD releases of this film.

When the lighthouse keeper is no longer able to leave scraps of meat for the monster, a series of mutilated bodies begin to turn up. The local police then begin to take notice. Stars Les Tremayne and Forrest Lewis.

This film comes from an excellent TV print which is far superior to any other version currently available. You can actually see the monster in detail, unlike the Republic Pictures release which has a very soft and dark picture.

Note: The title monster in this film, aka: "The Crabman," was designed by Jack Kevin, who also helped to design the gillman in The Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954).

During the premiere of this film, Jeanne Carmen's dress was nearly torn off by a gang of rowdy young boys (see gallery). As a result, she vowed never to be in a horror film again.
